There is a new RC track being built just west of Harlingen. This looks to be
a real humdinger. Norm Peterson sent an email about it.
"Fyi: The local RC car
hobbyists around the RGV started building a new rc track just west of
Harlingen this summer. They have completed the tower, with air conditioned
race control room and an elevated car ramp in front. Bathroom too.
They have a nice big peace of flat ground to start working on the track
next.
I
happen to hear about it early on and have been following their work on
FaceBook. For this year all who kick in $100 for a membership will get free
racing in one class for the whole season. I took them up on it. I'm hoping
to elevate my skill level by running on a more challenging course. Of course
the more of you, would make it more fun.
They want to set aside a day just for us retired folks. I assume this will
be a short truck course class.
They are considering having about four retirement parks have one day a week
to all come in and run together. Possibly Tuesday or Thursday.
Look them up on FaceBook. RGV R/C Raceway Harlingen, TX RGV R/C RACEWAY
If interested let me know which of those two days might work best and I'll
keep a tally and let them know.

[Editors note:This appears to be a Gears rc club project. Some of you may recall the Race track that the Gears rc club used to
have in Harlingen until the city returned the property to the Police
Department.
The elevated drivers deck and the air conditioned control room look great!
As of this writing, they havent started on the track itself.]
Here are some pictures from their facebook page:

According to the
postings on the facefook page, the track
is being built next to or in back of one of the member's home on Stuart Place
Rc. in Harlingen.
The group that is building the track has a facebook group page:
